Control your computer from your phone
Linkpad turns your phone into a touchpad, keyboard and remote for your Mac or Linux computer. It connects over your local network without an account or cloud service.
Download the desktop server
Linkpad requires the desktop server to be installed and running on your computer.
Download Linkpad and view installation instructions
Connect your phone
- Install and open the Linkpad desktop server.
- Connect your phone and computer to the same local network.
- Enable input control and grant any required permissions on your computer.
- Open Linkpad on your phone and go to Computers.
- Select your nearby computer and scan the pairing QR code shown on its screen.
Once paired, Linkpad saves your computer for future connections.
System requirements
macOS: Grant Linkpad access under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. If input remains unavailable after enabling access, restart Linkpad.
Linux: Input control requires an X11 desktop session. Run Linkpad as your normal desktop user. Wayland and headless console input are currently unsupported.
Both devices must be able to communicate over the local network. The desktop server uses TCP port 4747.
Troubleshooting
My computer doesn’t appear
- Confirm that the desktop server is running.
- Make sure both devices are on the same local network.
- Avoid guest Wi-Fi networks that prevent devices from communicating.
- On iPhone, enable Local Network access for Linkpad in Settings.
- Check that your computer’s firewall allows Linkpad connections.
It connects, but the cursor doesn’t move
On macOS, check Accessibility permission and restart Linkpad after changing it.
On Linux, confirm that you are using an X11 session and that Linkpad was launched within your logged-in desktop session.
The connection drops
Keep the desktop server running and check your Wi-Fi signal. If your computer sleeps or restarts, wait for it to become available, then reconnect.
The pairing code expired
Generate a new QR code on the desktop and scan it again. Pairing codes are single-use and expire after two minutes. Keep them private.
The cursor feels too fast or slow
Open Settings in the mobile app and adjust Cursor sensitivity.
Privacy
Linkpad sends input commands directly to your paired computer over an encrypted local-network connection. Camera access is used to scan pairing QR codes. Linkpad does not stream your computer’s screen.
